What. The. Fuck.
For those who haven't watched the show, Avatar: The Last Airbender is based off a collection of Asian cultures and people. In general, the Four Nations can be split up into certain nationalities. The Air Nomads have a lot of Tibetan influence, the Earth Kingdom borrows a lot from Korea, the Fire Nation is a collection of Japanese and Chinese culture, and the Water Tribes are based off of Inuit and possible north eastern Russia.
So why. The fuck. Are all. These kids. But one. White?
Also, someone should go and tell Dev Patel he's got a little something on his face. It appears to be covering up what should be ZUKO'S MOTHERFUCKING SCAR.
For more information on why this is less about continuity and more about the ridiculousness of putting white characters into these roles (with the exception of Patel, who, ironically, is supposed to be playing the palest character on the show), check out racebending. There's some interesting stuff there.
Also, more evidence that M. Night Shyamalan is... well, I'll let you decide.

| DFO |
[15 Jul 2009|04:22pm] |
Hi guys & girls
I have a day off tomorrow and some money burning a hole in my pocket, so I was thinking of heading to one of the DFOs. I've never been to a DFO before and I wanted to ask any of you if you have been and which one is better for bargains, the one at the airport or Jindalee? I've heard the airport one is bigger but Jindalee is easier for me to get to (I'm in Taringa).
Thanks!

Another reason why Buffy rocks. I was writing a paragraph about why I agreed with this article, but the article says it better, so I've deleted it. Suffice that while I frequently want to kick Buffy herself in the head, there's a lot I really appreciate about her character, to say nothing of my love for the show in general. I burned out on it for a while but I've been missing it again lately. Maybe I should organize my own Buffycamp thing up here for the Edinburgh types...I know, I know, I keep promising readthroughs here and never getting around to them. I'm really loving my latest idea for a Clue one though. That'd be a good one to start with.
I NEED THIS T-SHIRT. Oh man, that's the best thing ever.
Okay, back to sorting out the reserve lists. I'm working, really!

Hi everyone
I have a shoe size of around 10 to 11 womens sizes, and I need some new shoes. Nice ones.
Heels, flats, boots, anything, as long as it's around 10.5 in size...
does anyone have any recommendations for stores, preferably around the city, that would stock things like that?

• Post ten of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive. • NO CAPTIONS!!! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words. • They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason. • You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.
( THIS WAS HARD, YOU GUYS. )

| Restaurant Recommendations |
[14 Jul 2009|08:58am] |
I'm sure people probably get sick of these types of posts but I'd love some personal recommendations from people.
For my birthday next month I'd like to organise for about 10 friends and myself to go somewhere in the city for dinner. I'd like somewhere that we can get dressed up for but is somewhere that doesn't have a totally formal atmosphere and reasonable priced meals e.g. average price of mains $25-$30.
I've never been to Jade Buddha so that's what I have in mind at the moment so it would be great to get people's opinions about there or other places in the city that I might not have heard about.
Thanks in advance :)

Ok guys - I need to book dinner for 5 people on Thurs night and I have a real hankering for Italian. Except to date I haven't found GOOD Italian food in Brisbane. Any suggestions?? It has to be around/in the City, New Farm, Toowong, St Lucia, Indro, Milton etc... the usual suburbs I ask about!

| Lawyers who understands designers? |
[13 Jul 2009|09:57pm] |
Hi everyone
I'm looking for a lawyer who understands designers or works in the creative industries to read over and give advice on a draft contract I have written up for the freelance design work I do. Location isn't a problem and brownie points for anyone who can find a cheap one (unlikely I know, but I am a poor student). I seem to recall this may have been asked on this comm before but I've gone through the tags and couldn't find it so apologies if I've created a double.
Thanks in advance!

| Shoe Help |
[13 Jul 2009|05:50pm] |
My lovers, I was hoping if you could help me like you have done so many times in the past. I'm after a pair of shoes that are of similiar style to a pair I had a few years ago. In the 90s they were fairly popular but I have yet to see a pair since.
I'm hoping someone in this community isn't as retarded as much I am in regards to "fashion" and has some idea of of the name of the style i'm after or better yet knows of a place where I can acquire such a shoe.
Under the LJ Cut is an MS paint picture of what i'm after, unfortunately I took some artistic license (and tbh i'm crap at using MS paint) but hopefully it'll give you all some idea of the style.
I'm willing to travel almost anywhere in Brisbane as Doc's are a pain in the ass to skate in.
( Crappy MS Paint image for your enjoyment )

Title: The Weight of the World in Her Hands Summary: "Police custody was every bit as dull as Holmes had anticipated." Notes: I don't even know. I had an irresistable urge to wrap up the dangling threads of LANG in such a way as to make Russell suffer. (And that separates this from the rest of my fic, how? you ask.) cesario said it was worth releasing to an audience. I always do what she says. Warnings: Implied offscreen kidnapping and rape. Mostly unspoken? I don't know.

| Bed side tables for sale |
[13 Jul 2009|02:36pm] |
Hey everyone,
I'm selling two bed side tables as they're way too big for my tiny room. They're only a year old and in good condition. One has a scratch on the top and I'm happy to email a photo of the scratch.

I'm asking $60 for the two
Height: 51cm Width: 60cm Length: 40cm
Easiest pick up is from Capalaba but I spend a fair bit of time at the Boy's house in West End so that can also be arranged.

| Birds |
[13 Jul 2009|02:10pm] |
Hello!
We are looking at getting pet birds to keep in a large aviary. I was wondering if there are any sites where you can adopt/rescue birds? I have looked at petrescue.com.au and rspca (where I found a turkey which I would have loved to adopt but my husband suggested I would need re-homing if I adopted a fully grown turkey). Does anyone have any suggestions of sites or places to look at?
Thank you :)
